Week 1 is behind us and certainly did not disappoint. Points scored in Week 1 was at the highest its been since 2021, which created plenty of excitement. 10 of the 16 games were decided by one possession including the first overtime game in 2024 with the Rams returning to Detroit for a rematch of last years Wildcard round. Week 1 had all the big plays, upsets, controversies and drama that we all love and missed during the offseason.
With the 2024 season firmly underway, lets take a look at how Week 2 shapes up..
Game Previews
Saints at Cowboys: Both teams look to stay hot after blowout victories in week one which they combined for a +53-point margin of victory.
Buccaneers at Lions: Baker Mayfield completed 80% of his passes and threw 4 TDs last week to show that his Buccaneers are to be taken seriously in the NFC. Week 2 brings a true test in the Super Bowl contending Lions.
Colts at Packers: Playoff hopeful teams try to get back on track after narrow losses in week 1. It should prove difficult for Green Bay if Jordan Love isn’t ready to play after an MCL injury against the Eagles.
Jets at Titans: No Head Coach is under more pressure in 2024 than Robert Saleh. The Jets drew a tough draw in week one against the 49ers, but this week they face a Titans team with little expectations who blew their first game against the Chicago Bears.
49ers at Vikings: All-Pro RB Christian McCaffrey was placed on IR, but it didn’t slow SF down at all in Week 1. They look to victimize the Vikings who are now led by 49ers 2023 backup QB Sam Darnold.
Seahawks at Patriots: New England shocked Cincinnati last week and will try to ride the momentum into Week 2 against a Seahawks team who appeared to have new energy in week 1 under first time Head Coach Mike MacDonald.
Giants at Commanders: Both teams took embarrassing losses in Week 1 and have a long way to go to be truly competitive. They should manage to work out some of the kinks against each other in this matchup.
Chargers at Panthers: Head Coach Jim Harbaughs Chargers looked… like a team coached by Jim Harbaugh. Their toughness alone should be more than the Panthers can handle.
Browns at Jaguars: Two former Clemson star QBs face off as their NFL careers are trending in opposite directions.
Raiders at Ravens: Each team played hard in Week 1 but let the games get away from them. Ravens play well at home and will be hungry after last week, but I expect a tough game played on both sides.
Rams at Cardinals: Losing Puka Nacua to IR will hurt LA, but having Cooper Kupp as your WR2 is the best-case scenario. Look for Arizona to feed their own star receiver Marvin Harrison Jr. after the heat from him only getting 1 catch in his first NFL action.
Bengals at Chiefs: Last week’s stinker from Cincinnati has us all fearing disappointment from what a marquee matchup against the Super Bowl Champion Chiefs usually is.
Bears at Texans: Chicago squeaked out a victory thanks to Will Levis in Week 1, but they face a much more formidable QB in CJ Stroud and his Texans who are already off to a hot start after a big win in Indianapolis last week.

Game lines, prop bets and anytime TDs were a hit last week going 9/12. But, as hot as they were I was just as cold on daily fantasy plays. J. Warren, D. Swift, M. Harrison Jr., and J. Smith-Njigba went for an embarrassing average of 2.9 points. Lets hope the betting hot streak continues while the DFS come around some this week too. Storylines are aplenty heading into Week 2, I wrote about a few I’ll be keeping an eye on. Now lets sit back and enjoy this Sunday of football, they sure do go by fast.
