Game Previews
Giants (2-7) vs Panthers (2-7) in Munich, Germany
The league really brought NFL Europe back right under our noses and we didn’t even notice.
Patriots (2-7) at Bears (4-4) CHI -6.5
The Bears 20 point loss last week to the Cardinals has fans calling for an overhaul of leadership in Chicago. HC Matt Eberflus’ seat is as hot as ever, and many believe a loss against the 2-7 Patriots could be the nail in the coffin.
Bills (7-2) at Colts (4-5) BUF -3.5
Not many are talking about the Bills this year, but they have won 4 straight and are quietly the #2 seed in the AFC. They won’t look past the Colts who have played everyone tough. Indianapolis has won or lost each game this season by one score or less.
The Bills will need to come away healthy and hungry as they host the Kansas City Chiefs in week 11. My pick: BUF -3.5
Vikings (6-2) at Jaguars (2-7) MIN -6.5
Sam Darnold, who has had an amazing career resurgence this year, is apparently only any good because of the talent around him..
This should give the Vikings extra motivation that they didn’t need to roll right over the Jaguars. My pick: MIN -6.5
Broncos (5-4) at Chiefs (8-0) KC -7.5
The Broncos have shown signs of life this year, but only against poor teams. Last week they were rolled by the dominant Ravens. Though they may keep the score closer this week, the Chiefs should be in control of this one from start to finish. My pick: KC -7.5
Falcons (6-3) at Saints (2-7) ATL -3.5
The New Orleans Saints fired Head Coach Dennis Allen after last weeks embarrassing loss to the Panthers. Typically, that gives a team a jolt of energy, but it just doesn’t feel that way with the Saints.
The Falcons have won 5 of their last 6 and should keep the momentum going into New Orleans. My pick: ATL -3.5
49ers (4-4) at Buccaneers (4-5) SF -6.5
The big story is Christian McCaffrey returning to the lineup for the 49ers. He completed a full week of practice without a hitch and should be a full go.
McCaffrey will be out of street clothes and into his uniform in week 10.
The Buccaneers are coming off an OT loss to the undefeated Chiefs, but Baker Mayfield showed he can play with anyone – despite how many healthy receivers he has.
Tampa draws a tough opponent with the 49ers coming off their bye week, but this should be a high-scoring affair which the Buccs are more than capable of competing in. My pick: TB +6.5
Steelers (6-2) at Commanders (7-2) WAS -2.5
Pittsburgh returns from its bye and heads to Washington in a huge interconference matchup. Both teams started the season with a lot of questions, which have mostly been answered.
Commanders have their QB of the future and the Steelers have their win-now QB. Both need to keep winning to keep pace in their respective divisions.
Titans (2-6) at Chargers (5-3) LAC -7.5
Both teams play a similar brand of football, but the Chargers are everything the Titans want to be.
Jets (3-6) at Cardinals (5-4) NYJ -1.5
New York finally got a win last week after losing 5 straight. They face a Cardinals team that has quietly won 3 in a row.
This game is a toss up, but it feels like the Jets could start to build a little momentum. Could also just be the fact that mainstream sports media has to talk about the Jets, no matter how bad.
Eagles (6-2) at Cowboys (3-5) PHI -7
Usually a marquee matchup, the Cowboys season just keeps getting worse. They placed Dak Prescott on IR with an injured hamstring, all but ending the Cowboys chances at any kind of playoff run.
The Eagles are on fire and the Cowboys will be just a bump in the road. My pick: PHI -3
Lions (7-1) at Texans (6-3) DET -3.5
The Texans took a loss to the Jets last week which came as a surprise to almost everyone (including me) besides the sportsbooks, who had the Jets favored in the game. Houston hasn’t been playing their best ball, but they could get an important piece back soon in Nico Collins.
The Lions are playing better football than anyone, as I stated in “Extra Points” earlier this week. The Texans may put up a fight, but it won’t be enough. My pick: DET -3.5
Dolphins (2-6) at Rams (4-4) LAR -1.5
The Dolphins haven’t won since Tua’s return and the uphill journey continues against the Rams, who have won 3 straight.
Los Angeles has a good shot at the wide-open NFC West. The offense is clicking now that receivers Puca Nakua and Cooper Kupp are healthy. The defense has allowed 20 points or less in their 3 straight wins.
Miami can score with anyone, but the Rams defense does just enough to take this one. My pick: LAR -1.5
