NFL Week 9 Game Previews and Bets

Hitting the road for Wild and Wonderful West Virginia this weekend, so this week previews and bets are going out early. I’ll select a few of the more marquee matchups to look at and then give my recommended bets and a Same Game Parlay for Cowboys/Falcons.

Game Previews

Cowboys (3-4) at Falcons (5-3) ATL -3

Atlanta’s defense leaves a lot to be desired, but their offense has scored 30+ points in 3 of their last 4 games. Kirk Cousins is fully in-sync with his receiving trio of London/Mooney/Pitts and Bijan Robinson is finally a full-time part of the offense with 100+ yards from scrimmage and a TD in 3 straight games.

On the other hand, Dallas looks to be trending in the wrong direction. They haven’t won since Oct. 6th in Pittsburgh on a go-ahead TD with 20 seconds left in the game. The NFC’s best Detroit Lions blew them out and last week’s game against the 49ers was also a blowout before Dallas scored 2 4th quarter TDs to make the final score look respectable.

The Falcons’ balanced offensive attack should be able to take full advantage of the Cowboys’ awful defense which is 31st in the NFL allowing 28 ppg.

My pick: ATL -3

Broncos (5-3) at Ravens (5-3) BAL -9.5

The Broncos have gotten off to an impressive start behind rookie QB Bo Nix. Their defense has led the way ranking 3rd in points per game and yards per game. They will need their strong defense and then some against the top-ranked Ravens offense.

MVP candidate Lamar Jackson gets even more help after the Ravens added WR Diontae Johnson via trade. A similar player to Zay Flowers, Johnson brings good route running and quickness to help further bolster the Ravens’ offense.

Denver’s defense has a chance to keep them in this one, but they’ll have to play their best game of the season. In the end, the Ravens attack will be too much for the Broncos to handle.

My pick: DEN +9.5

Lions (6-1) at Packers (6-2) DET -2.5

The game of the week heavily depends on whether or not the Packers QB Jordan Love will play. The -2.5 line suggests he will and I agree, I can’t see the franchise QB not gutting out the biggest game of the season for first place in the NFC North.

The Detroit Lions are the hottest team in football and look like the Super Bowl Champion frontrunners. In their last 4 games, they have scored a whopping 43 points per game. Packers defense has been opportunistic (#1 in turnovers), but they’re just in the wrong place at the wrong time for this one.

My pick: DET -2.5

Colts (4-4) at Vikings (5-2) MIN -5.5

Joe Flacco officially gets the nod as the starter for the rest of the season which feels like a restart for the Colts. The offense will be far more efficient and should be run through Jonathon Taylor and a play-action pass game.

After starting 5-0, the Vikings have fallen short in their last 2 games. Brian Flores’ defense has been exposed in those games allowing 30.5 ppg.

Flacco vs Darnold – the epic Sunday Night Football game we all wished for.

My pick: Colts +5.5

We should see a lot of yards and points when the Cowboys face the Falcons in Week 8. The highest projected point total may be worth betting the over on at O/U 51.5.
